Frequently asked questions

Still have questions?

Getting the right support for your Dell technology is important, whether you're dealing with a technical issue, checking warranty options, or planning a new infrastructure project. It's natural to have questions. Here are answers to some of the questions we're most commonly asked by Dell customers in Gibraltar.

Dell support and warranty services

Is BSG an official Dell Service Delivery Partner in Gibraltar?

Yes. BSG is Gibraltar's exclusive official Dell Service Delivery Partner, providing authorised local Dell warranty services and technical support across the territory.

Our Dell-certified engineers carry out authorised warranty repairs, diagnostics, hardware replacements, and technical support for a wide range of Dell technologies, following Dell's approved service processes and best practices. This means customers in Gibraltar can access official Dell warranty services locally, without needing to send equipment overseas for eligible warranty repairs.

Whether you're an individual with a Dell laptop, a business relying on Dell servers and storage, or an organisation planning infrastructure upgrades, our team can help you understand the support options available and guide you through the next steps.

Need help with your Dell equipment? Contact our Dell team to discuss the issue or request support.

What types of Dell equipment can BSG support?

BSG provides authorised support for a broad range of Dell technologies used by both individuals and businesses in Gibraltar.

This includes Dell laptops, desktops, workstations, servers, storage systems, networking equipment, monitors, and other eligible Dell hardware. Whether you need warranty support, hardware diagnostics, fault investigation, replacement parts, or technical assistance, our Dell-certified engineers can help determine the most appropriate course of action.

If you're unsure whether your particular Dell equipment is supported, simply get in touch with your Dell Service Tag (if available). If you don't have your Dell Service Tag, don't worry – our  team can usually help identify your equipment and advise on the support options available.

Need support? Contact our Dell team to get started.

Do I need an active Dell warranty before contacting BSG?

No. You don't need to know whether your Dell equipment is still under warranty before getting in touch.

If you're unsure, our team can help check your Dell warranty status, explain what support options are available, and advise you on the most appropriate next steps. Where a fault is covered under an eligible Dell warranty, repairs and support are typically provided at no charge to you under Dell's applicable warranty terms.

If your Dell equipment is no longer covered, we can still help. We'll explain the available options, discuss any chargeable work in advance, and provide a no-obligation quotation before any work is carried out.

The most important thing is not to let uncertainty about your warranty stop you from asking for advice.

Don't have an active warranty or are unsure whether your equipment or fault is covered under Dell warranty? Reach out to our Dell team to get clarity on your options.

Can BSG still help if my Dell equipment is no longer under warranty?

Yes. An expired Dell warranty doesn't necessarily mean your options have come to an end.

If your Dell equipment has developed a fault, we may still be able to provide diagnostics, repairs, replacement parts, or technical support, depending on the equipment, the nature of the issue, and the availability of parts. Before any chargeable work is carried out, we'll explain the available options and provide a clear, no-obligation quotation, so you can make an informed decision.

If your equipment is still working but your warranty is approaching its expiry date, it may also be eligible for a Dell warranty extension. Extending your warranty before it expires can help protect your investment, maintain access to Dell support, and provide additional peace of mind for the future.

Whether you're looking for support today or planning ahead, our team can help you understand the options available for your Dell equipment.

Want to check your Dell warranty or explore warranty extension options? Learn more about Dell warranty services.

Will my Dell equipment be worked on by Dell-certified engineers?

Yes. All authorised Dell warranty services, infrastructure projects, and technical work delivered by BSG are carried out by a team of Dell-certified engineers.

Dell certification means our engineers have completed Dell's technical training and work in accordance with Dell's approved service processes and best practices. For you, that means the people working on your Dell equipment understand the technology they're supporting and have access to the appropriate tools, resources, and procedures for eligible Dell services.

For larger or more complex infrastructure projects, BSG also works closely with Dell's enterprise specialists, providing customers in Gibraltar with local expertise backed by Dell's wider technical and enterprise resources when required.

Need help from our Dell-certified engineers? Contact our Dell team.

What should I do if my Dell equipment develops a fault?

If your Dell equipment develops a fault, don't worry if you're not sure what's caused it or whether it's still under warranty. The most important thing is to get in touch as soon as possible so we can help you understand the available options.

If you have your Dell Service Tag, having it available can help us identify your equipment and check its warranty status more quickly. However, if you don't have it to hand, don't worry – we can usually help identify your device and advise you on the next steps.

Once we understand the issue, we'll explain the most appropriate course of action. Depending on your equipment and warranty status, this may include authorised Dell warranty support, diagnostics, repairs, replacement parts, or other available support options. If any chargeable work is required, we'll always explain the costs and provide a no-obligation quotation before any work is carried out.

Our aim is to make getting the right Dell support as straightforward and stress-free as possible.

Ready to get your Dell equipment working again? Contact our Dell team and we'll help you identify the most appropriate next steps.

Dell warranties and warranty extensions

How can I check if my Dell equipment is still under warranty?

Checking your Dell warranty status is usually quick and straightforward. If you have your Dell Service Tag, we can help confirm whether your equipment is still covered, explain the level of support available, and answer any questions you may have about your warranty.

If you don't have your Service Tag, don't worry. Our team can often help identify your Dell equipment and guide you through the next steps.

Knowing whether your Dell warranty is still active can help you understand what support options are available, whether repairs may be covered under Dell's warranty terms, and whether your equipment may be eligible for a warranty extension.

Ready to check your Dell warranty? Request a warranty check, and we'll confirm your warranty status and explain the support options available.

Can I extend my Dell warranty?

In many cases, yes. Dell offers warranty extension options for a wide range of laptops, desktops, workstations, servers, storage systems, and other eligible Dell technologies.

Extending your Dell warranty can help you maintain access to Dell support, reduce the risk of unexpected repair costs, and provide greater peace of mind as your equipment continues to age. The options available depend on the specific device, its current warranty status, and Dell's eligibility requirements.

If you're unsure whether your Dell equipment can be covered by an extended warranty, we can help you check what's available and explain the options in clear, straightforward language.

Wondering what warranty extension options are available? Explore your warranty options with our Dell team.

Can I extend my Dell warranty after it has expired?

Possibly. It depends on the type of Dell equipment you have, how long the warranty has been expired, and Dell's current eligibility requirements.

Many people assume that once a Dell warranty expires there are no further options available, but that isn't always the case. Depending on the circumstances, it may still be possible to reinstate or extend support. In other cases, alternative support or repair options may be more appropriate.

Because every situation is different, the simplest approach is to contact us with your Dell Service Tag. We'll check what's available for your equipment, explain your options, and help you understand the most appropriate next steps – without any obligation to proceed.

Not sure whether your warranty can still be extended? Ask us to check and we'll explain what's available for your equipment.

Is my Dell equipment eligible for a warranty extension?

Eligibility depends on several factors, including the type of Dell equipment, its current warranty status, its age, and Dell's warranty policies at the time of your enquiry.

Whether you have a Dell laptop, desktop, workstation, server, or storage system, we'll help determine whether warranty extension options are available for your specific equipment. If they are, we'll explain the available support levels and help you choose the option that best suits your requirements and budget.

If an extension isn't available, we'll also explain any alternative support options so you can make an informed decision with confidence.

Want to know whether your Dell equipment is eligible? Check your eligibility with our team.

Is it worth extending my Dell warranty?

It depends on your equipment, how it's used, how critical it is to you or your organisation, and how long you intend to keep it.

For many businesses, extending a Dell warranty can provide valuable peace of mind by maintaining access to Dell support, helping reduce unexpected repair costs, and minimising potential disruption if a hardware fault occurs. It can be particularly worthwhile for business-critical laptops, workstations, servers, storage systems, and other infrastructure where downtime could have a significant operational impact.

For some organisations, maintaining manufacturer support also forms part of broader IT governance, technology lifecycle management, cyber security, or customer and supplier requirements. While an active Dell warranty isn't typically a compliance requirement in itself, keeping business-critical equipment within manufacturer support can help organisations maintain access to firmware updates, vendor expertise, and supported hardware throughout its operational life.

For individuals, the right decision often depends on the age of the equipment, how long you expect to keep it, and the potential cost and inconvenience of an unexpected hardware failure.

Our role isn't to recommend a warranty extension in every situation. It's to help you understand the options available, explain the benefits of each, and help you decide what's right for your circumstances.

Not sure what's right for your Dell equipment? Request a warranty review with our Dell team and we'll help you make an informed decision.

Can keeping Dell equipment under manufacturer support help with cyber security, compliance, and risk management?

Yes – particularly for business-critical equipment.

While recognised standards such as Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS don't typically require an active Dell warranty or manufacturer support contract, they do expect organisations to manage technology risks appropriately and maintain secure, supported systems.

Keeping business-critical Dell equipment within manufacturer support is widely regarded as good operational practice because it helps organisations maintain access to firmware updates, security patches, technical expertise, hardware diagnostics, replacement parts, and vendor assistance throughout the supported lifecycle of the equipment. This can support stronger cyber security, technology lifecycle management, business continuity, and IT governance.

It can also help organisations respond more confidently to customer security questionnaires, supplier assurance requirements, cyber insurance renewals, and internal technology policies, where the use of supported hardware and access to manufacturer support are often viewed as indicators of good operational and information security practices.

Whether a warranty extension is the right decision depends on your equipment, how critical it is to your organisation, and your wider technology strategy. Our role is to help you understand the options available, assess what makes sense for your environment, and make an informed decision based on your operational needs – not simply recommend a warranty extension.

Reviewing your technology lifecycle or warranty strategy? Request a Dell warranty review and we'll help you understand the options available for your equipment.

Can BSG help me choose the right Dell warranty?

Absolutely.

Choosing the right Dell warranty or support option isn't always straightforward, particularly for businesses managing multiple devices or critical infrastructure. Different Dell support services are designed for different requirements, and selecting the right option depends on factors such as the type of equipment, how it's used, response time requirements, and your appetite for risk.

We'll take the time to understand your equipment, answer your questions, and explain the available options in clear, practical language – helping you choose the level of support that's most appropriate for your needs rather than simply recommending the most expensive option.

Need help choosing the right level of Dell support? Talk through your options with our team.

Do I have to contact Dell directly to extend my warranty?

No. BSG can help manage the process for you.

That means you have a knowledgeable local team to support you throughout the process, without needing to navigate it alone or work out which Dell support option is most appropriate.

Whether you're extending the warranty for a single laptop or reviewing support for an entire Dell infrastructure environment, we're here to help make the process as simple and straightforward as possible.

Our Dell-certified engineers can assist throughout the project lifecycle, including planning, procurement, installation, configuration, migration, deployment, testing, and ongoing technical support. Planning a Dell infrastructure project? Speak to our infrastructure team to discuss your requirements.

What types of Dell infrastructure projects can BSG support?

We support a wide range of Dell infrastructure and technology projects for organisations across Gibraltar.

This includes Dell PowerEdge servers, storage solutions, networking equipment, infrastructure refreshes, hardware upgrades, migrations, deployments, disaster recovery projects, office relocations, new office fit-outs, and ongoing infrastructure improvements.

Every organisation's requirements are different. Some projects involve replacing a single server, while others require detailed planning across multiple systems, locations, or stakeholders. We'll work with you to understand your objectives, recommend the most appropriate approach, and deliver the project with minimal disruption to your business.

Considering an upcoming infrastructure project? Discuss your project with our team to explore how we can help.

Do you provide Dell remote hands and smart hands services in Gibraltar?

Yes.

BSG provides Dell-certified remote hands and smart hands services for organisations that require experienced engineers on-site in Gibraltar.

These services are particularly valuable for international organisations, managed service providers, and IT teams supporting customers with offices or infrastructure in Gibraltar but without their own local engineering presence.

Whether you require hardware installations, component replacements, rack and stack services, diagnostics, cable management, equipment deployments, or on-site technical assistance, our engineers can act as your trusted local technical resource while working alongside your internal team or service provider.

Need Dell-certified engineers on-site in Gibraltar? Arrange remote hands services with our team.

Can BSG work alongside our internal IT team or existing IT provider?

Absolutely.

Many of the organisations we support already have an internal IT department, an existing managed service provider, or an international support partner.

Our role is to complement those teams by providing Dell-certified engineering expertise, authorised local service delivery, and technical assistance where additional local resources are required. Whether we're supporting a single installation, assisting with a complex migration, or providing remote hands services on behalf of another IT provider, we'll work collaboratively to help achieve the best outcome for your organisation.

Our aim is to become an extension of your existing technical team – not replace it.

Looking for additional local technical expertise? Talk to our Dell infrastructure team about how we can support your existing IT resources.

Can BSG support larger or more complex Dell infrastructure projects?

Yes.

While BSG delivers projects locally in Gibraltar, larger or more technically complex Dell infrastructure projects can also benefit from the additional expertise and resources available through Dell's enterprise specialists.

This means customers have a trusted local delivery partner managing the project on the ground while also benefiting from Dell's wider technical capabilities where specialist knowledge or additional design expertise is required.

For customers, it provides the reassurance of working with a local team that understands your business, backed by the experience and technical resources of Dell when appropriate.

Planning a larger infrastructure project? Discuss your requirements with our Dell team to explore how we can help.

Can BSG support international organisations with operations in Gibraltar?

Yes.

Many international organisations have offices, infrastructure, or customers in Gibraltar but don't have their own local engineering team.

BSG regularly supports organisations in these situations by providing Dell-certified engineers on-site to carry out technical work on behalf of internal IT departments, managed service providers, and international technology partners. This enables organisations to deliver consistent service to their Gibraltar locations without the cost and delay of sending engineers from overseas.

Whether you're supporting your own Gibraltar office or delivering services for a customer with operations locally, BSG can provide experienced Dell-certified engineers to act as your trusted local delivery partner.

Need trusted local Dell engineering support in Gibraltar? Contact our infrastructure team to discuss your requirements.

When should I involve BSG in a Dell infrastructure project?

The earlier, the better.

While we're always happy to assist during deployment or implementation, involving BSG during the planning stage often allows us to add the greatest value. Early involvement can help identify technical considerations, support solution design, assist with procurement decisions, plan installations, and reduce the risk of unexpected issues later in the project.

Whether you're planning a hardware refresh, opening a new office, upgrading business-critical infrastructure, or supporting a customer in Gibraltar, we'll work with you to help ensure the project is delivered as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

Starting to plan a Dell infrastructure project? Talk to our Dell team early and we'll help you build the right approach from the outset.

Getting started

Do I need to be an existing BSG customer to receive Dell support?

No. You don't need to be an existing BSG customer to access Dell services.

Whether you're an individual looking for help with a personal Dell device, a business requiring authorised Dell warranty support, or an organisation planning a Dell infrastructure project, our team is happy to discuss your requirements and explain the support options available.

As Gibraltar's exclusive official Dell Service Delivery Partner, BSG provides authorised Dell warranty services, technical support, warranty extensions, infrastructure projects, and remote hands services for customers across Gibraltar. We'll take the time to understand your requirements, answer your questions, and help you determine the most appropriate next steps – whether you already work with us or are contacting us for the first time.

If we believe another solution would be more appropriate for your situation, we'll tell you. Our priority is helping you make an informed decision, not simply selling a service.

Still have a question or not sure where to start? Contact our Dell team, and we'll be happy to help.

Do I need a support contract to use your Dell services?

No. You don't need an existing support contract or managed IT agreement to access BSG's Dell services.

Whether you need authorised Dell warranty support, a warranty extension, help with a technical fault, Dell-certified remote hands services, or assistance with an infrastructure project, we're happy to discuss your requirements and explain the options available.

Many customers first contact us for a single Dell-related requirement and later choose to work with BSG more broadly, while others simply need occasional specialist Dell expertise. We'll always recommend the approach that's most appropriate for your circumstances, without expecting you to commit to services you don't need.

Looking for help with a specific Dell requirement? Get in touch with our Dell team and we'll point you in the right direction.

How do I find my Dell Service Tag?

Your Dell Service Tag is a unique product identifier that helps us identify your Dell equipment, check its warranty status, access the correct support information, and provide the most appropriate technical assistance. Having your Service Tag available can often help speed up the support process, but don't worry if you can't find it – our team can usually help identify your equipment another way.

For most Dell laptops and desktop computers, the Service Tag is printed on a label attached to the underside, side, or rear of the device. The label typically includes both the Dell Service Tag and the Express Service Code, as shown in the example.

Dell Service Tag label showing where to find the Service Tag and Express Service Code for Dell warranty checks and technical support.

For Dell PowerEdge servers and other enterprise infrastructure, the Service Tag is typically located on a pull-out information tag (sometimes referred to as a "luggage tag") at the front or rear of the server chassis. If you're unsure where to find it, we'll be happy to guide you.

The Service Tag is helpful, but it isn't essential. If you can't locate it, simply get in touch with our team and we'll do our best to identify your equipment using other available information.

Need help identifying your Dell equipment? Contact our Dell team and we'll be happy to help.

What information should I have ready when I contact BSG?

Don't worry if you don't have all the information – our team will guide you through anything we need.

If possible, it's helpful to have your Dell Service Tag, the model of your equipment, and a brief description of the issue or project you're enquiring about. For infrastructure projects, it can also be useful to have an outline of your objectives, timescales, or any existing technical documentation, although this isn't essential.

The more information you can provide initially, the quicker we can understand your requirements and recommend the most appropriate next steps. However, if you're unsure where to begin, simply get in touch. We'll ask the right questions and help you from there.

Ready to get started? Contact our Dell team and we'll guide you through the process.

I don't know what's wrong with my Dell equipment. Can you still help?

Absolutely.

You don't need to identify the fault or know which Dell service you require before contacting us. Many customers simply know that something isn't working as expected – that's exactly what we're here to help with.

Whether your Dell equipment has developed a hardware fault, you're unsure whether it's still under warranty, you're experiencing performance issues, or you simply want advice before deciding what to do next, our team will help assess the situation and explain the available options.

Our role is to make the process as straightforward as possible, helping you understand what's happening and recommending the most appropriate next step for your equipment.

Don't worry if you can't find your Service Tag. It's helpful, but it isn't essential. Just reach out to our Dell team and we will do our best to help you identify your equipment.
